| Q: | What are the advantages of hiring a professional? |
| A: | Hiring a professional photographer to shoot for your company is one of the best ways to promote your business. Your products or service is what you are all about and if your marketing materials don't look their best then your image doesn't look its best. Non-professional or mediocre images will give a poor impression of your company. A professional photographer knows exactly how to light and shoot images that will be printed in brochures or magazines or will appear on the web.

| Q: | Who owns the copyright to the photographs of my products? |
| A: | Studio 101 West owns the copyright to all photographs they create. When you hire us to shoot for you, you are paying for a one time use of the images, unless other arrangements have been made prior to shooting.
|
| Q: | What are usage fees? |
| A: | Usage fees are fees charged based on how much and for how long the image will be used.
|
| Q: | Can I buy my images outright? |
| A: | Yes. Any images shot by our studio can be bought outright. You need to discuss this with us prior to the shoot. Buying images outright means that you have unlimited usage of the images we shoot for you. Purchasing your images outright does not mean you own the copyright. The photographer always retains ownership of the copyright. Images bought outright can not be resold or transferred to a third party.
|
| Q: | Can I use my photos for anything I want? |
| A: | No. Your photography is shot for a specific use. Please discuss all possible uses before we shoot so that you are covered.
|
| Q: | What is image resolution? |
| A: | Image resolution is the original amount of digital data in your photograph. We shoot with the highest level of data possible. Images can always go smaller than the original resolution but should not go larger than the original resolution. Images used for offset printing should be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) at 100% size. |
| Q: | What resolution do I want for offset printing? |
| A: | Images used for offset printing should be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) at 100% size.
|
| Q: | How do I receive my images ? |
| A: | We can provide your images on CD rom or DVD or they can be downloaded from our server or uploaded to your server. Just let us know what you need. Also let us know what format you prefer to receive your images in. If you don't specify, we will provide images in RGB, .jpg format
|
| Q: | Can I be at the photo shoot? |
| A: | Yes. In fact if we have not shot for you before, we would like you to be at the photo shoot. If you are not there to approve the layout you will have to accept the photographer's best judgment. If location limits your ability to be at the shoot, we can send you a soft proof via the internet. Once we have approval of the soft proof, we can finish the photo shoot. Let us know ahead of time what your needs are.
|
| Q: | Do you hire models or do I have to provide them? |
| A: | Either way. We have professional or non-professional models we can hire. Of course, professional models cost more. You may also provide your own models. Check with us first for a list of parameters and clothing requirements.
All models are required to sign a model release on the day of the shoot. Minors must have a parent or guardian signature.
|
| Q: | How long does it take to have my products photographed? |
| A: | It all depends on our work load and the type of product. Check with us about scheduling and your deadline.
|
| Q: | Do you travel to locations outside of San Luis Obispo county? |
| A: | Yes, we will travel as far North as Ragged Point and South to Lompoc for no extra charge. Further locations are subject to our availability and you will be billed for time and travel expenses |
| Q: | Will you travel out-of-state or out-of-country if needed? |
| A: | Yes. If we are available we will travel to almost any destination. You will be billed for time and travel expenses.
|
| Q: | Do you retouch the images if needed? |
